Congrats Hillary supporters you may now have the last laugh!

The last time I checked Sen. Obama has the nomination locked up due to his superior Caucus strategy but you Hillary supporters should be congratulated for your correct assessment of the so called Obama Phenomenon.  Now you can have the last laugh. The position of POTUS is above all very political position and Sen. Obama the master politician fits it very well. I love the way he maneuvered the Kossacks.

We all can celebrate the second coming of Bill Clinton. Hopefully without his self destructive tendencies. When Sen. Obama talks about change he is really talking about change at the speed of light change like Shapeshifter. I expect him to be a superior politician than Bill. I would call his policy changes (flip flops) as post primary adjustments. He had no choice but assume those positions to fool the primary voters. If elected he would be a great president because we would see a very pragmatic Obama who has absolutely no beliefs.

Here is a prediction: The main purpose of his visit to Iraq is to adjust his position on Iraq. He plans to have a meeting with General Petraeus after which he would announce a change in his position about the withdrawal of troops due realities on the ground.

I decided not to document Sen. Obama's change in positions because I do not want to provide any ammunition to McCain campaign. That is the usual accusation made by "YAWN" and "Why don't you post on Redstate.org".

Re: Congrats (2.00 / 1)

so wait, Obama isn't going to call for a gradual but honorable withdraw from iraq dictated by the facts on the ground?

because if not you NEED to post your sources immediately this was half the reason I supported him!

p.s. why don't you post at Townhall.com :-P

Obama said, as Bill beamed. "Thank you, President Clinton."

Re: Congrats Hillary supporters (1.83 / 6)

We (Clinton) supporters said Obama was the same kind of politician that have been around for decades, he will, and continue to change his position as the wind blows.

We never thought he was the Messiah (as some think) or a great new "change maker". He is quite infact, a normal, rather average debator, excellent speechmaker, not a policy wonk with a different background from other Presidents.

At the end of the day, he is a politician, he will screw us over like all other previous Republican and Democrat president. We make a choice as to who will screw us over the least.

You see, Obama's electoral success relies on being the "change-maker" and an "honestman" as SOME POINT this media spin will e destroyed, and we democrats must hope it is after the General Election.

Clinton's run was a brilliant one, she redefined her image in 1 month for the whole nation - Given her life, for many many years in the media, given the amount of crap she has taken from attacks from the left and right, she still was only 0.5% (approx) voted behind Obama.

So if you want to make a judgement as to who is the better POLITICIAN Hillary wins hands down!

If you want to make a decision on to who is the better person - We don't know who Obama is at all (media only on his case for 6 months really vs decades vs Clinton)

The problem for the Democrats would not be in November, but in 4 years time, when reality hits home, when the Republicans have a younger better candidate, when Obama's media spin is handled by what he does, and not by what he says.

Re: Congrats Hillary supporters (2.00 / 3)

What did the Republicans run out of young candidates? Clinton supporters will have the last laugh because they have a person in the White House who will achieve their goals.

Wow, you're good.  Thanks for that.

I will, however, settle for next week's Powerball numbers if you care to share them with me, Nostradamus.

Well your are certainly entitled to your assumptions. Just be careful because we all know what assuming does.

At this point, I'm willing to give Obama some (2.00 / 4)

latitude and time. I never thought of him as a liberal left icon. I'll be quite happy if he turns out to be Bill Clinton without self destructive tendencies. Anything that moves the dial of nation a tad bit from the extreme rightwing is fine with me at this point.

I'm however disappointed in his stand or lack of stand thereof on FISA.

The only laugh that most Clinton supporters ..... (2.00 / 4)

are now able to have is the nice little chuckle that we have reading your pile of bile, knowing that you are just completely off base.

Hell's bells, even the GOP didn't have to crucify Eisenhower's record in order to make Reagan their 'saint'. We can have two great ones, you know?

Re: Congrats Hillary supporters (2.00 / 2)

Wait, you mean the Democratic nominee is taking more centrist stands as he shifts to the general election in order to appeal to independent voters he is going to need to win?  Shocking!  Outrageous!  Scandalous, even!

by XoFalconXo on Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 11:14:20 AM EST

Re: Congrats Hillary supporters (none / 0)

I was reading through the comments, waiting for someone to say exactly that.

It's a pretty standard formula.  Appeal to the base in the primary; run to the center in the general.

No way. No how. No McCain.

Good one.  Missed it the first time around.  It's refreshing to watch someone around here exercising reason.  Or for that matter paying attention to the long view rather than getting wound up about today's news cycle.

That's thinkin', Lincoln.

I've been wondering about that.  apparantly it's a sliding scale.  why can't the old rec'd diaries stick until new ones with a certain threshold are recd? bah.

Re: Congrats Hillary supporters you may now have (2.00 / 1)

He is not Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton is a policy wonk as is Hillary.  They actually know personally what they are talking about.

Obama is more like Reagan.  His friends will run the country and he will keep hope alive.

So maybe the better question is what kind of president will kos make?

by dtaylor2 on Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 12:56:11 PM EST

He is not like Reagan! (1.00 / 0)

Reagan believed in a consevative ideology which btw I do not subscribe to. Obama only believes in polls. He is a shapeshifter that is prepared to throw any one under the bus. In other words a ruthless american CEO which is really not all bad.
I do not think he would sleep in the meetings like Reagan.

Same stuff over and over and over and over and.... (2.00 / 1)

Does it seem to anyone else these diaries are getting a little repetitous now?

Same soil, being tilled, just new phraseology?

Again, I think the point overall is, Senator Clinton would have also "run for the middle" at least retorically, hell, ALL candidates from either side do it.

What I see is, folks who are still pissed at Obama winning just endless repeating the same song with slight variations?

"Bill Clinton is a policy wonk as is Hillary.  They actually know personally what they are talking about.

Obama is more like Reagan.  His friends will run the country and he will keep hope alive."

My problem with that is, Reality?

Senator Clinton actually let Her Husband AND his hand choosen advisors (Mark Penn) run her campaign, going back YEARS, hence her votes on Kyl-Liberman, AUMF, etc, to position her to overcome the perception that a woman would be weak on Military matters.

She also listened to those same people, and ran a TERRIBLE Nomination campaign?

For such a smart wonk, she played by yesterdays rules and got beaten?

So, DTaylor, actions ALWAYS speak louder then words of opinion, and Obama's actions so far show he is stronger in choosing a strategy and executing it?

So, I will reverse your simple question?

I would have had a LOT of worries about a Clinton presidency: One driven by warring factions of advisors, including Bill, driving Senator Clinton away from her natural instincts?

On the other hand, Obama's masterful nomination campaign, coming from DOWN over 100 super delegates, coming from DOWN all the political machinery in Senator Clinton's quarter, shows me HE is the more resolute, the more steady state, the better at chosing the correct strategy and sticking to it?

Just depends on how you view it, eh?

He would win the popular vote and lose the Electoral college!
